"We have been visiting the Islander for over 30 years and it was just as good as always, but the unit we stayed in this time did not live up to it's platinum rating. We were disappointed in the quality of the mattress on the master bed and the sofa pullout. The living room TV did not work. The bathroom drawer handles were all very loose and the toilet paper roll holder in the guest bath was barely hanging on for dear life and didn't hold the roll at all.
I also wish that the linen exchange was more than twice per week because of our arrival and departure times I had some soiled towels by the time I could exchange.
I love Allen (at the beach) who always remembers us and treats us so well. I really liked the live band on Wednesday nights too. Sounded very good.
We enjoy our stays and hope the next unit we book is better maintained.

Snowbird rental 2025

"We stayed at the Islander for 3 weeks. We had some Snobird friends who encouraged us to stay.
Our unit (718) was just as pictured. Upon arrival it was clean and well stocked. The view of the gulf from our balcony was awesome. The sunsets were spectacular!
The clock in our unit needed a lot new battery- no worries as the front desk gave us one immediately.
Our toaster worked but you had to hold the lever down. I had mentioned this to the staff at the front desk and just as I returned to my room, staff delivered a BRAND NEW toaster.
The staff was always friendly and accommodating.

"Property well maintained. Condo was great except 1) TV remote in living room stopped working (batteries)? TV in primary bedroom difficult to operate (instructions would be good), paper goods could use an upgrade. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.

"We had absolutely the best place to stay. It was clean and easy to find. The staff was very nice and always helpful. We loved that it was quiet and on the 7th floor. The views were absolutely breathtaking. Property was clean and felt very safe. The only issue we had was waiting for the elevator as one was out and only one other to use. But that didn’t stop us from wanting to rent from here again.

"A great view of the ocean from our balcony. A 2 minute walk and an umbrella with 2 chairs reserved on the beach everyday. Unit was clean and roomy. Staff treated us like we were VIP's. Just off main road on a beach road that was not crowded. Felt safe as it was gated.

"Everything was wonderful. Very easy check-in/check-out. The free beach rental was awesome. Alan, the beach rental attendant was PHENOMENAL.
Two negatives: 1) no washer/dryer in the unit. Not a dealbreaker, but would have been nice. 2) The elevators- only one was working during our visit.

"We loved this unit. Beautiful view, love the decor and Jennifer was a big help to us. We had a little trouble with the tv. The storm must have caused the audio on the tv in the bedroom to go out. We remembered our tv at home did the same thing and we unplugged it and waited 10 seconds and plugged it back up. It worked.

Favorite Complex in Destin

"We have been going to the Islander for over 25 years. There is a reason for that, it is a great complex for a reasonable cost. The staff at the front desk are friendly and always there to help you with any questions you may have. The grounds are very clean, with two sparkling pools and a pavilion complete with grills for enjoying a cook out. Access to the beach is very easy as well.
We always choose a unit on the west (sunset) side of the complex. We enjoy watching the fishing boats go out in the morning and watching the sunset at night. There is a lovely view of a lagoon, where we love watching all the wildlife that inhabit it. Beyond that, there is the jetty and the inlet where the boats go in and out of the harbor, and you still have a view of the Gulf. We definitely recommend staying at the Islander. ❤️ The Islander!

The Islander - Home Away From Home in Paradise

"We absolutely love The Islander. We visit Destin at least once a year, sometimes twice and when we do we ALWAYS stay at The Islander. All units are 2 bedroom, upgraded, nicely appointed and the complex is located right on the beach toward the harbor. The staff is wonderful and we always have a great time. One of my favorite things is that dolphins play every day in the wates there. This place is wonderful!

"We love this unit. Very clean, GREAT view and very quiet.
Could use ice maker repair, leaky and ice sticks together.
Garbage chute that is near unit out of order and had to take garbage to Far East chute. Overall great relaxing week, we even added an extra night. Hated to leave. We’ve stayed in this unit previously and we’ll definitely be back!

"The furnishing are comfortable and practical. The beds are comfy.
Desk staff were friendly and helpful. Pools and hot tubs are clean and enjoyable.
Convenient location to the beach and to shopping. Grilling area is a great bonus.
Affordable stay. Safe quiet streets and sidewalks for walking and running.

Love at first sight!

"This property is fabulous, the view, the accommodations and the location. There are many activities and very close to the beach, with two beautiful pools. The restaurants around the area are excellent, we never found a bad one. Found this place by accident last year and fell in love with it right away. We'll definitely be back!
