"Overall this is a very nice unit and is as described! The unit has everything you could need, with the exception of outlets. It could use a few more of those, but being an older building that’s understandable. However our biggest disappointment was that is was not disclosed to us that dredging was going on right in front of our resort which meant HUGE pipes were taking up our beach area. The 2 chairs that were supposed to be included in our stay were then not available because our section of the beach was not available. That should have been disclosed to us because honestly that may have influenced if we stayed there. We came for the beach and not having all of it available was a bummer.

"Out stay at the islander was met with friendly staff, a clean place to stay and basically on the beach. We really enjoyed the amenities like the pools. The showers outside to cleanup before going up to the condo.

Great place for the money

"We recently stayed at the Islander. Positives: great location (central to so many restaurants & activities), clean when we arrived, rest of hotel maintained nicely, loved having 2 chairs & umbrella per room and the property management staff were fairly quick to answer questions via VRBO. Cons: No employees wore masks including those cleaning the rooms (to me that's incredibly irresponsible during a pandemic). Front desk staff barely looked you in the eye or seemed happy to be there.

Was nice but could have been better

"The room was nice..perfect wasn't cleaned well..carpet still had food/stuff left on it. Dining room chairs have food stuck to them.. baking pans under the stove were dirty.. the room / furniture needs a good deep clean and update.
The resort its self is nice..clean easy close private access to the beach. 2 pool /spa areas would be nice if they had an adult only pool or adult only hours for the pool as it gets over run with kids. Also when going to the beach it would be nice if the beach service had a check in desk or son went out there out first day as was completely ignored..when we showed up a little later we sat down in empty chairs..with nothing near by..only to be told the were reserved and moved to other chairs...how do you reserve chairs? Again nothing that was explained.

Thank your for your review. We will get with housekeeping about the cleanliness issues. We are a family resort so yes the pool does sometimes get over ran with children. As far as beach service unless some one has already claimed the chairs for the day there are no reservations.

"Quiet, no frills nice getaway spot. Everything necessary was provided, property well-maintained and the 24 hour front desk was very helpful. The proximity to the beach (1 block), shopping and dining (2 miles) was great, the private balcony on every condo was perfect. Enjoyed our stay and will be back.

"This is our 3rd year vacationing here and every time it's been great. The units are clean and well provisioned with the basic dishes and pots and pans. It's a short walk to the beautiful beach and the beach chairs and umbrella that come with the room are a great bonus. The property is clean and well cared for. The pools are beautiful. The kids programming is another nice extra. We've had some great vacations here and will have more in the years to come. It's great value for the all you get with the proximity to the beach, you really can't beat it!

A relaxing vacation from home!

"Great experience. 418 could use an over haul compared to the other rooms
I saw on the same floor as this one. The carpet needs to go. Loved the pull out
Sofa and outside furniture. Room is extremely dated tobthise around you color scheme and all. But it worked for our family. You may lose renters down the line to other rooms that have been updates on unfull weeks just a thought for you all.
The Islander is wonderful and we plan to return just not in that room. Could be beneficial to get some gas grills. The charcoal take longer and there were lines. But all in all a great time. Beach service was excellent!

Glad you had an overall great experience. In response to your noted issues, each condo is individually owned and designed, which is why we use the tier system based on updates. We choose charcoal grills for added safety measures and although we do have 10 grills on site, there may be times you wait to use one. A great 8 weeks in Destin at The Islander Resort

"This was our first time staying at The Islander. Our experience was wonderful from check-in to check-out. The staff were all amazing, friendly and very helpful. They have a great snowbird community there and we were made to feel welcome and enjoyed the many activities offered at The Islander. The unit we were in was very clean when we arrived, however, the unit itself could do with a bit of updating. The property itself was immaculate and the staff were always making improvements.
