"Service at the islander is always great. Staff is friendly and easy to communicate with. The unit we rented was a perfect location on the ground floor across from paved path to beach and right by the pool. The kitchen of this unit needed some attention. Most drawers in kitchen did not close smoothly. Cabinet doors not securely hinged. Burners on stove would not stay down in place. Overall I would rate unit at 4:5.

Home away from home

"The stay was amazing as always. This specific unit had bunk beds in the spare room which was nice for the kiddos. The only complain we have specific for our unit was the master bedroom mattress was hard as a rock. The property management doesn’t deal with this, it is an owner purchase. We didn’t sleep much because of this. But overall it was an amazing stay like always

Close to beach access

"104 is clean and comfortable. Although the couch and chairs could be updated as they are showing lots of use, the five of us were comfortable in our beds and in the living area. The description needs to updated to match the pictures. It is a single bunk over a full. The proximity to the beach access was the best part for us although the beach is very crowded during peak season. The set up of the chairs and umbrellas on the beach is unfortunate bc there is very little space between. Also this private beach area only allows for umbrellas and no other type of cover. We will not be staying in this area of Destin again as it was very crowded.

Another stay at the Islander

"We have stayed many times at the islander and keep coming back for more! It offers every thing we could ask for in a vacation rental. Unit 104 had everything we needed in general. The condition of 104 could use some maintenance. The king bed was truly only half usable. The right side of the bed was so worn and sloped toward the floor. Sleeping on that side could have resulted in falling out of bed. The kitchen seemed beat up a bit. The counter top had a chip in it, the refrigerator was dented and scratched. Still had a wonderful time though! We are so happy to see Alan is back at the beach! We do love Alan! We are already looking at booking another trip there and would just choose another unit!

"The islander is located on Gulf Shore Drive. Very close for shopping restaurants golf and beautiful Beach. Two pools one heated all winter. Two hot tubs. Pickle ball & tenis courts. The resort is kept very clean. Friendly staff. The Condo could use some redecorating.

"We love the Islander! We have stayed there for nearly 30 years! We prefer the east side 1st floor. We recently stayed in unit 104. It was clean and provided all we needed, but the bathrooms are both in need of an update. There were a couple other issues I shared with the front desk, but otherwie a great stay and nice weather. We plan to return in the spring and have booked unit 103.

"We had a great vacation and stay. But I did feel like the owners of the condo do need to update the condo. The wood on the bathroom vanity is rotten, and the shower had mildew stains.

"Wonderful! Check in was fantastic and easy on Thursday. Check out even better as we were allowed to stay a few extra hours. We REALLY appreciate. Condo 104 was so well decorated and everything we needed was available. Towel supply fantastic. Mattress in both rooms could be updated and replaced. Twin beds headboards need to be adjusted to the bed frame as they moved a lot when getting on and off the bed. Location of 104 was great and easy to go to the beach.

Beautiful Beach Resort

"The Islander is one of my favorite vacation locations. The walk to the beach is short, just over the boardwalk, and the pools are just the right temperature. The grounds are beautiful, clean, and usually well maintained. This year the tennis court was unusable, so no tennis tournament for the teens. There were a few maintenance issues with the unit, but nothing major. The main issue was the smell in the unit upon arrival. It was a mixture of cleaning chemicals and stagnant air. It was not terrible, but definitely unpleasant. With the windows open it dissipated after about two days, but those two days were temperate and had about 90-100% humidity. After the smell was gone and it was warm enough to turn on the air conditioner, to dry everything out, it was again the great vacation we expected.

"This was our 4th trip to Destin & have stayed at the Islander every time. Me, my mom & 88 yr old grandma love it. We stay on the 1st floor & has easy access to the beach & pool. Everyone there is friendly & they keep the grounds clean. We will definitely be back.
