Yes, The Islander will celebrate it’s grand re-opening with a Destin Chamber ribbon cutting on May 17, 2011 at 4pm.  Everyone is invited to see how much we’ve changed. If you would like to be here, just call 1-800-477-8837 and ask for the grand re-opening special!  The ribbon cutting will be at the front entrance to the new lobby. After a brief tour of the lobby everyone will be invited to the main pool area where cold drinks, food samplings, and door prizes from our VIP (guest) Program Partners will be given away. Our VIP program is our way of promoting local businesses that depend on the Tourism. The Islander is the perfect place to stay and our VIP Partners offer the best of just about anything you could want to do at the Beach!

Another week has gone by and the back view of the building has changed with all the new windows! The elevator people will be here next week and we will get to see just how they intend to get those old elevators out and the new ones in. I wonder? The weather here is amazing! Sunsets are amazing! The new beach is amazing! Just wait til January 2011 and THE NEW ISLANDER WILL BE AMAZING TOO!

Seven days and counting. So much has been done, the contractor works quickly and smoothly. Most all the tile has been removed now and they have started the new window and wall  in the master bedrooms. Every day something new happening, I wonder when it will be quiet again.

I don’t know if I will post every day, but today was really beautiful here despite all the dust! The tile has been removed from about half the walkways. They sure are fast!

It’s day three of our renovation and wow is it ever noisy! Lots of jack-hammering going on! We all get to wear hard hats. Not very conducive to our hairdo’s. LOL.
